As for me, Annie's birthday is bittersweet. The day after she was born, my dad died suddenly of a massive heart attack while doing The Incline. Having a birthday celebration with good friends was special and a good birth day present for me.
It takes a town to raise a child (and bike paths, front porches, sidewalks and a local corner store.)

Annie's 2nd Birthday
Annie's second birthday started off with snacks and then, Annie fell asleep. Poor Annie! It's my party and I'll sleep if I want to. :) At the party, Mia and Lucy came, just back from Cincinnati, as well as Katie and Isabella just in from Chicago. Also, Chrissy and brew Nico, Stella and Mateo drove down from Denver. Our dear local friend, Kate and her children Sofia and Joe came, too. The kids played in the pool and with the outdoor kitchen, found and (left) dolls, discovered the downstairs, watched movies, munched on vanilla cupcakes, played dress up, jumped on beds, played hide and seek under blankets, ate sandwiches, fruit and drank lemonade, and made clay sculptures. All of this, while Annie slept. When Annie woke up, she ate the last of the cupcakes and didn't seem to mind missing most of the party.
