Things from the day...

Today...

-Annie climbed up the ladder and looked over our cinder block wall and onto our driveway and street and asked, "Where did everybody go?" I'm not sure if she expect Jim, our contractor to be out there, but I love having our small little ladder that the kids can use to climb up and peek into the street, alley or neighbors yard. Sophie is big enough that she climbs up and sits on the wall, sometimes pretending she's Ariel and sings, "It's a great big world..." This afternoon, our neighbors a few houses down had a cement machine running and Sophie tried to see what they were doing, moving the ladder different places to get a view.

-This afternoon the plan was to meet my mom 1/2 way between P and C/S, and she would take Sophie back with her for the night. When we stopped, Annie said to my mom, "I don't have my shoes on." When she learned that only Sophie would be going to Nana's house, she burst into tears and covered her face. Maybe because Luca was sound asleep next to her and he wouldn't know that he got left behind, my mom offered to take Annie too. Little Annie was so happy hopping into Nana's truck and Sophie was such a good sport for sharing her night at Nana's with her little sister.

-We rode our bike to dinner tonight with Luca in the trailer and when we came out of the restaurant, Luca said, "There's Luca's moon." He asked me on the way home if I would go in the spaceship with him later. "Sure, Luca." Luca's favorite genre now is outer space, spaceships and non-fiction children's magazines. He particularly likes reading and talking about the pictures of this boy in Africa who made a windmill that generated electricity with bicycle parts. After we got home from our bike ride, Luca gathered buckets, a chair and a wagon, so we could all sit in the driveway and look at the moon. I think Luca loves looking at the stars and the moon, in part, because last summer or the one before, my mom spent a lot of time star gazing with Luca and it just seems to have stuck with him.
